Stylotext · last updated 9 October 2026

Stylotext does not collect, transmit or store any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in and no analytics. Your photos and your designs stay on your device and are never uploaded. Out of the box the app makes no network connections at all. If you switch on font downloads, the only thing it downloads is font files from Google Fonts, for fonts that are not built into the app. The app's on-device AI models are delivered by Google Play itself, as part of installing the app.

Who this applies to

This policy covers the Stylotext Android application (com.stylotext.app), published by an independent developer. It explains what the app touches on your device and what it does not.

What the app accesses on your device

Photos you choose

When you add an image, remove a background or upscale a photo, the app asks Android for access to the picture you select. Only the file you pick is opened. All processing — including background removal and upscaling — runs on your own device using models that come with the app. Your images are never uploaded.

Photos you take with the in-app camera

If you take a photo from inside the app, the camera opens only while that screen is open. The photo goes straight into your design and is kept in the app's private storage with it. The photo's hidden details (EXIF), including any location, are removed. No video or sound is recorded.

The clipboard

So the editor can offer to paste a picture you have copied, it checks what kind of thing is on the clipboard (for example “an image”) and when it was copied, when you return to the app. That check does not read the content. The picture or text itself is read only when you tap Paste.

The last 20 things you pasted into a design are kept in a paste history in the app's private storage, so you can use them again. You can remove any of them, or all of them with Clear all, in the paste history. Nothing in it leaves your device.

Your projects

Designs you create are saved in the app's own private storage on the device, so you can reopen them later. Preview thumbnails are generated locally. Removing the app removes this data.

Files you export

When you export a design, the file is written to your device's Downloads folder (or, if you choose, the Download folder of an SD card) so you can find and share it yourself. The app does not read your other files.

Your country, once

The Urdu tools are offered in Pakistan. To decide, the app reads three country codes once, on its first launch: your SIM card's, your mobile network's, and your Google Play account's (through Google Play on your phone). If any of them is Pakistan the Urdu tools are shown, and the answer is remembered on the device. Only the yes-or-no answer is kept, nothing is sent anywhere, and the app makes no internet request for this. Urdu fonts are available everywhere.

WhatsApp sticker packs

You can turn stickers you made into a WhatsApp sticker pack. The app checks whether WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business is installed, only to know whether to offer Add to WhatsApp. When you tap it and confirm in WhatsApp, WhatsApp copies that pack's sticker images from the app, on your phone. Only the pack you added is shared, only with WhatsApp, and Stylotext sends nothing over the internet for it. What WhatsApp does with the stickers after that is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.

AI models, templates and the font list, from Google Play

The on-device AI models (background removal, upscaling and the like), the built-in templates and the list of Google Fonts are large, so they are not inside the main app download. Google Play downloads them by itself right after it installs or updates the app, the same way it downloads the app. If a tool needs them before Play has finished, the app asks Google Play on your phone to fetch them.

This download is made by Google Play, not by Stylotext, so Offline Only does not apply to it. It is the same for every user, carries nothing about you or your designs, and is handled under the Google Privacy Policy. Once downloaded, everything runs on your device.

Downloading fonts from Google Fonts

About seventy fonts are built into the app and work with no connection. The rest of the Google Fonts library (around 1,900 families) can be downloaded one family at a time. This is off until you turn it on, with the Download fonts switch in the Google Fonts explorer or by turning off Offline Only in the Privacy Center. While it is on, a font is downloaded only when it is needed:

The files come from Google's font server, fonts.gstatic.com. Each request asks for one font file by name and carries nothing else: no account, no identifier, no text you typed and nothing from your designs. As with any download, Google's server receives your device's IP address and the time of the request, and Google handles that under the Google Fonts privacy FAQ and the Google Privacy Policy. Stylotext itself receives and keeps nothing.

Every downloaded file is checked against Google's published fingerprint for it before it is used, then saved in the app's private storage so it is not downloaded again. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app deletes these files.

Offline Only

Offline Only is on when you install the app. It blocks every network request before it is made. The Download fonts switch in the Google Fonts explorer is the same setting seen from there: switching downloads on turns Offline Only off, and switching them off turns it back on. Fonts you have already downloaded keep working either way.

Your own image server (optional)

Background Studio can use an image-generation server that you run yourself. Nothing is sent unless you type that server's address into the app and turn Offline Only off. If you do, the app sends the text prompt and the image size to that address only, and to no one else.

What the app does not do

Permissions and why

PermissionWhy it is requested
Photo access Requested by the system picker at the moment you choose an image. Only the file you select is read.
CAMERA Asked for only when you open the in-app camera to take a photo for your design. The picture stays on your device; nothing is recorded in the background and no sound is ever captured. Phones without a camera can still use the rest of the app.
INTERNET Used only to download Google Fonts you choose, and to reach an image server of your own if you set one up. Unused until you switch font downloads on: Offline Only is on from install and blocks it entirely.
BILLING Comes with Google Play's billing library, used only to read your Play account's country once (see Your country, once). Nothing is bought or sold in the app.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Comes with the same library. It can only see whether a connection exists; it sends nothing.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Used only on Android 9 and older to save an exported design into the Downloads folder. On Android 10 and newer this is not requested, because the system handles the save.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE,
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC
Come with Google Play's asset delivery library. Google Play uses them to unpack the AI models it has downloaded (see AI models, templates and the font list). They send nothing.
WAKE_LOCK,
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
Come with the same Google Play library, through Android's WorkManager. They let a download Google Play started finish, or carry on after the phone restarts. Stylotext itself schedules no background work.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Comes with the image picker library. On older Android versions it lets the picker hand over the picture you chose. The app does not browse or read your other files.

Children

Stylotext is a general-purpose design tool and is not directed at children. As it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the app adds a feature that needs a network connection or handles data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
